The concept resonated immediately
People understood the map-first idea without explanation.
Zoom in, explore, click on profiles — it felt natural.
The minimal UI also landed well.
Professionals appreciated the calm, focused presentation.
Unexpected insights
A few patterns stood out:
- users wanted more control over how they represent themselves
- events felt more valuable than expected
- some wanted simpler profiles; others wanted richer ones
- availability and hourly rate turned out to be important signals
- privacy controls for contact details were highly appreciated
This helped refine both the experience and the roadmap.
A strong signal: simplicity works
The biggest confirmation was that simplicity wasn’t a limitation —
it was the reason people liked dotmap.
No noise.
No content pressure.
Just a clear presence on the map.
